Who Is RƎLAY?
Who’s RƎLAY? We’re a small group of people who specialize in Virtual Radio Console technology for Lawo.
So what’s a “virtual radio mixer”, and how did we come up with the idea? It starts with virtualization, a big word for “a software version of something physical.” Every time you look up a friend’s details in the Contacts list on your smartphone, you’re using a virtual Rolodex. Use it to check the time? That’s a virtual wristwatch. Skype someone? Virtual closed-circuit TV!
RƎLAY is the world’s first Virtual Radio Mixer. With RƎLAY, you use a touchscreen laptop to mix audio, and, like your smartphone, add Apps to extend its capabilities. RƎLAY finally lets you produce radio in a modern, intuitive way.
For instance, your studio probably has audio processors, phone systems, remote codecs, playout systems, editors and other tools, connected with Ethernet. RƎLAY replaces those boxes with software apps running on the same COTS computer. It’s a completely new architecture with which to build radio studios; one that can be extended to add new features and capabilities anytime. Your studio can run smoother, cost less and do more.
Everyone knows Lawo is passionate about bringing Innovative new technology to broadcasting — and the RELAY team is really excited about what virtualization can do for broadcasters. Imagine: an elegant collection of software apps, powerful enough to collect an entire studio’s worth of broadcast devices in a laptop PC that goes anywhere. Go Virtual. You’ll never go back!
